The topic of this RV session is "Górka Klasztorna (Poland): the course of a Marian apparition in 1079," at the oldest site of Marian devotion in Poland officially recognized by the Church. This is our fourth study in a series of "apparitions" (Fatima, Medjugorje, Gietrzwałd), i.e., potential supernatural "phenomena of great strangeness" observed by people and classified by the Church as religious events. This time, we did not gather much information, and we did not have good contact with any supernatural or spiritual entity, which casts some doubt on the reality of the entire event. A common feature of the participants' reports, however, is a clear attraction to pre-Christian pagan rituals or even sacrifices, which may have taken place around a tree on a hill. During this time, the forced Christianization of pagans and the appropriation of their holy places by the new faith were taking place. See, for example, articles from my site visits to Ślęża, Trzebnica, and Łagiewniki. Could the whole idea of a Marian apparition at this site be a clever cover-up for an earlier Slavic cult? However, I don't rule out the existence of local energies or spirits, as in other pagan holy sites, that can be perceived even after 1,000 years.
